Outdoor Nature Hour #5

We took our outdoor hour walk last Thursday.  The sun was shining but the wind was cool.  I told the littles we were going to see how many different kinds of birds we could find.  They were really excited and we took a notebook and field guide and made a list of the birds we were able to see.

we saw a yellow/gray bird at the bird feeder (I'm not sure what kind it was)
blue jay
crow
hawk (the hawk and crow were fighting in the air)
brown thrasher
cardinal
eastern bluebird
american robin
we heard a woodpecker

Here is Bo drawing pictures of the birds we saw on our walk.  I told him to choose one to draw and wanted to draw all of them

you guys hit the jackpot with the birds!! awesome.

I'm going to get better about taking the field guide out with us... it's just that we live in bird paradise where there is supposedly more variety of birds than anywhere else in the world...

I think I'd be at a loss for identifying them when there are SO many and they are all unfamiliar!!

I will try though :)

You must be referring to the pics in the sidebar of my blog? If so, we had those made when we took the family photo that is in my header. My camera is not very good. I hope to get a new one soon. My only tip is let someone take them that knows what they are doing.
