Growing Oh So Fast...

Gingerbread Men In June...

Mr. Boo has just finished reading The Gingerbread Boy in his reader.

I also picked up a free copy of The Gingerbread Man at the homeschool conference.

Well, that means everyone wanted to make gingerbread men for a snack...

So yesterday after our schooltime in the afternoon we worked together and made some...

these two girls went a little wild with the sprinkes

and

unless anyone thinks it all went so smoothly

this little girl had to sit in her high chair after she...

dumped the spaghetti noodles out in the pantry

pulled the raisins off of the table

grabbed a nicely decorated gingerbread woman and gave her a squeeze:-) 

Nature Study Happens Almost Everyday

With these two boys of ours...

nature study happens almost everyday.

They are always bringing something home to observe for a day.

Just lately we've been able to observe a...

a cicada that had just emerged...

This was actually spotted by Miss LouLou but her bubbas were not afraid to grab it!

an Eastern Box Turtle found by Boo while he was picking blackberries...

a squirrel that the boys caught in the live trap baited with chicken feed...

this little fellow added a lot of excitement to our day

and of course we did not lose an opportunity to record our findings in our nature notebooks...

this enormous bullfrog was in the middle of the road when we were coming home one night...

daddy and the boys let the girls out and went back to find him. 

Mr. Opossum was another find in the live trap and also their first catch...

so fun

 Nature study has added such a fun element to our learning time together.

The nature notebooks they are working on have already become such a treasure to them.

 All other lessons have a time out when an item for nature study is found so we can focus on enjoying God's creation together;-)

Beach Trip 2012

After a ten hour trip...well ten for us anyway

and it could have been a lot longer without the little potty in the van...

cause something about being strapped in the carseat makes little girls have to go potty,

we arrived at the beach!

Someone please tell me that you also have a 15 month old who wants to run and dive into the waves...

or is she too brave for her own good?

going...going...gone

and the only way for me to keep my sanity...

life jackets on everyone else...

although when you are a big girl your not as brave and you want daddy to take you out into the water...

the boys are in heaven...finding shells...catching minnows...crab hunting...wave riding

they would stay out all day long!
