Look who turned 5!

4.)  You get very weepy sometimes at night when you are tired.  Talking about how you don't want to grow up and you always want to be our little girl.

Nature Study Never Ends

There is always plenty of nature study to do around here with these two catching all kinds of critters...

and yes even hunting...

this bullfrog was lucky...he was catch and release...

these guys weren't so lucky...

Yes, that is a cup of frog legs in the frig...just waiting to be fried for the frog bow hunters who shot them!

Dandelion Cookies....

We have lots of dandelions this year.

Most people call dandelions a weed, but they are really amazing for us nutritionally.

Dandelion can...

strengthen urinary system

and much more...

We learned dandelion petals make some pretty good cookies...

We all worked together to gather the petals...

 

the girls and I mixed and baked the cookies 

and we all ate them!  They were yummy.

Fishing Adventure

Daddy called from work last week and invited us all on an unplanned fishing trip.

Everyone was super excited and we all got ready in record time.

With half of our supper cooling on the stove to be used the next night...

we got to grab a quick bite before heading to our creek land.

the little ones and I sat in the sand and built sand castles with buckets and shovels, while daddy and the big boys tried to catch some fish.  We enjoyed the sights and sounds of nature all around us at dusk.

We heard...

frogs

mosquitoes buzzing

heron calling overhead

fish splashing

he'll be fishing one day...but for today his favorite thing to do is buckle the buckles on my sling...

 and when big sisters posed on the fallen tree for a picture...

little sis had to pose too...

and my two fisherman...

no luck fishing this time...but we had lots of fun together!
